A Peninsula in the Lake

Hamilton Branch is shaped by the water around it. The park extends into Lake Thurmond, creating miles of shoreline, sheltered coves, and changing views as the road winds toward the campsites. The lake never feels like a distant feature—it is part of nearly every scene.

02

Camping at the Water’s Edge

Many visits begin and end at camp. Morning light reaches across the water, boats pass beyond the trees, and evening settles into broad reflections. Staying beside the lake turns a campsite into a front-row seat for the rhythm of the park.

03

Paddling, Fishing, and Open Water

A boat ramp and direct lake access make Hamilton Branch a natural base for fishing, kayaking, and exploring Lake Thurmond. Even without launching a boat, the shoreline gives visitors places to watch the weather move, listen to the water, and enjoy the scale of the lake.

Sunsets Worth Waiting For

The wide western views are one of the park’s signatures. Ron and Michelle’s photographs preserve evenings when the sky changed from blue to gold and the lake carried the color all the way to shore. Those quiet moments are the heart of this R&M story.

Why It Belongs in R&M Adventures

Hamilton Branch proves that an adventure does not have to be hurried. It can be a paddle at sunset, a long conversation beside camp, or a morning spent watching the lake. The park gave us time, space, and a view that kept changing.
