Croft State Park in Context

Before it became a state park, this landscape included homesteads and later served as Camp Croft, a major Army infantry training center during World War II. Forest has returned, but the history still shapes the park’s story.

02

What Makes It Distinct

Croft offers more than 20 miles each of equestrian and mountain-bike trails, hiking routes, two lakes, and Fairforest Creek. The 165-acre Lake Craig supports fishing and paddling.

Following the R&M Album

Ron and Michelle’s album runs from June 2021 into May 2023. The photographs move through lake edges, woods, trails, historic traces, and park facilities, reflecting Croft’s unusually large scale.

04

Why This Story Belongs

Croft belongs because it is a landscape of reuse. Former military training ground has become protected recreation land where visitors now hike, ride, paddle, and learn what came before.
