A Small Park Beside a Great Blackwater River
Colleton State Park occupies only 35 acres, but its place on the Edisto River gives it an outsized adventure. Cypress-lined water, camping, trails, and a 23-mile paddle connection make the river the true center of the park.
Colleton State Park in Context
The Edisto is one of North America’s longest free-flowing blackwater rivers. Tea-colored water, cypress trees, and a winding channel give Colleton a setting that feels far larger than its 35 developed acres.
What Makes It Distinct
The park anchors the Edisto River Canoe and Kayak Trail. A 23-mile route connects downstream to Givhans Ferry State Park, while shorter visits can stay close to camp, picnic areas, and the nature trail.
