Charles Pinckney National Historic Site in Context
Charles Pinckney was a principal author and signer of the United States Constitution and remained a South Carolina political leader for more than four decades. The site uses Snee Farm to place that public career in a specific Lowcountry setting.
What Makes It Distinct
The preserved 1828 cottage serves as the visitor center, but the interpretation extends beyond one building. It addresses rice and indigo agriculture, plantation operations, and the African people enslaved on the property.
