Barnwell State Park in Context
Barnwell is one of 16 South Carolina state parks developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. That origin remains visible in the park’s most photographed historic feature, the spillway.

The park’s 307 acres hold three small lakes, cabins, campsites, and two nature trails. Fishing and easy walks keep the experience approachable, while the flowing spillway gives the landscape a memorable focal point.
