Calhoun Falls State Park
Pine-covered points, forested campsites, Lake Russell sunsets, fishing, and room to slow down.
Read the StoryWhere Pine-Covered Shoreline Meets a Wide, Quiet Lake
Calhoun Falls State Park stretches across several wooded points on Lake Russell in western South Carolina. Shoreline campsites, fishing, boating, trails, swimming, and broad sunset views make the lake the center of nearly every visit.
A Park Built Around Lake Russell
The park’s 318 acres extend along pine-covered points that reach into Lake Russell. Because much of the surrounding shoreline remains lightly developed, the views feel open, wooded, and peaceful.
One of the System’s Coveted Campgrounds
South Carolina State Parks describes the campground as one of the most coveted in the system. Spacious RV and tent sites sit among trees, and many offer direct or elevated views across the water.
Fishing, Boating, and Lake Time
Lake Russell supports bass, crappie, bream, walleye, stripers, and catfish. The park includes a boat ramp, fishing pier, seasonal swimming area, and a lighted marina with thirty-six rental slips.
Part of the R&M State-Park Journey
Ron and Michelle’s 2021–2022 album captures the lake, campground, and changing sky. Calhoun Falls is one chapter in their wider South Carolina State Parks experience—and a strong reminder that some adventures are about slowing down.
